CECIL SHOPHER - Newport,
Jackson County Arkansas
Mr. Cecil Shopher, 73 of Harrisburg, died
Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at his home. He was born Sept. 12, 1928 in Harrisburg the son of
Melvin Oscar Shopher and Winnie Laura (Austin) Shopher. He was a retired construction
worker, a former game warden and security guard. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Garland Shopher; and one sister, Mary Harris.
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his former spouse, Beulah
Dail of Harrisburg; two sisters, Eva Nelson of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Frankie Shopher of
Port Charlotte, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Nora "Sis" Shopher of Harrisburg; four
daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Lannie Pruiett of Aiken, S.C., Martha and Steve
Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., Linda and John Kessman of St. Joseph, Mich., and P. Jeanette and
Dr. Frank Prout of Knoxville, Tenn.; one nephew, Garland Shopher of Bradford; 12
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday at the
Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eugene Dixon and Bro. Carl Dixon
officiating. Interment followed in Bolivar Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garland Shopher,
Steve Thompson, James Pruiett, Rob Pruiett, Neb Thomas and Kenneth Brand. Honorary
pallbearers were R. A. Page and Alvin Jenkins. Arrangements by Jackson's Harrisburg
Funeral Home.
